Yes I was disappointed that we scheduled last Sunday as a baptism Sunday and nobody asked to be baptized. However, I had to remind myself that baptism is the outward sign of something God does in each of our lives when we accept Him. In other words God does it, I don’t and you don’t! And since He is God His timing is perfect. So where do we fit in? Jesus simply asks us to live lives that prompt people’s curiosity and to look for the chances God gives us to share of the difference Jesus makes to us. So take a few moments and ask yourself what do my friends and acquaintances know about me? How did they find those things out about me? Do they know that Jesus is the most important person in my life? If not, why not?
When we answer those questions God will show us how we are to play our part and the rest is up to Him.
Now just last week my devotion challenged me to ask God for things that, if they took place, I would know could only be Him-only God could have done them. One of the things I asked Him for was 100 people to come to know Jesus at New Life, evidenced by baptism. And then on Sunday morning, out of the blue, I learned of someone who had accepted Jesus and was considering baptism… 99 to go, hold on to your fork!!!
