An Amazing day

Jonathan Markham

For the past five years one Monday of the year has been taken up taking a group of our young people to camp at Jenness Park. This is always one of the funnest days of the year for me and yesterday was no exception. And once again I thought how much I love our church!! Here are just a few of the things that made the day so great……..
Firstly those who “stepped up to the plate” to help . …
David and Karen for arriving at 6;30 am to prepare an amazing breakfast for 20+ hungry teenagers and their drivers.
Elizabeth for helping with breakfast and lending us your van
Harley for allowing us to use your truck and helping us pack.
Paula for bringing your car and driving to camp
                                                                                                                Thank you all!!!

Then, following tradition,  we had lunch in Jamestown at the best pizza place in CA their “49er’s” has more meat than any other pizza I have ever eaten.

When we arrived at camp I remembered how when I first came to Grace we prayed that God would enable us to influence young people for Jesus. And there before my very eyes Josh and Liz have taken the largest group of kids to camp ever! But also they were joined by two other large groups from churches where the youth pastors are Jeremy and Lisa Williams and Rob and Ariel Blair, both couples who served with us at Grace! How incredible it is to see how God multiplied the influence of that little church and answered our prayers in unexpected ways. And what a privilege to serve Him with these three amazing young couples. How I thank God for them!

Lastly Maggie and I got to drive home together, a journey I have often had to make by myself. As we traveled we could anticipate together the day that tops that first day of camp! That is the day we go and collect them !!! This Saturday we will do it all again in reverse but on the way home those who are not sleeping from sheer exhaustion, will tell excitedly of the fun they have and the things that God has done in their lives.
So please join me this week in praying for their safety, and that God will touch each young life in a unique and personal way

I find it difficult

I have to confess I find worship difficult! Why? Well, I love worship in church and we are so blessed to have wonderful worship musicians and a great worship leader, but it personal worship, when I ...

58

No its not an attack of wishful thinking or a correction of my recent birthday; I am getting used to writing “60” when asked for my age. The number is a reference to Isaiah 58. Some time ago I ...

Choosing ... not to choose!

The importance of choice has been a recurrent theme in my thinking so far this year. The amazing reality is, that God gives us the opportunity to choose whether we serve Him, obey Him, or indeed pay ...

No Dieting!

Some times it feels like a "Christian diet,” or maybe a way of getting God’s attention so He will pay more attention to our prayers. Yes its that time again, time for what has become part of our ...
