Picking on People

Jonathan Markham

During our prayer time at church on Sunday I picked on two people and asked them to share with us what God had called them to do as a job and how we could particularly pray for them as they seek to live out their Christian lives in often challenging circumstances. (Thank you Paula and Harley for sharing with us so willingly!!)
Why did I do that and why did I not give them any warning*! It’s all about becoming a family of God that recognizes His hand in each of our lives. It’s about becoming consistent and faithful in prayer for each other. We need to understand that all our jobs are a calling from God, however “insignificant” we think they are! God has a purpose for placing us right where we are (and with just those co-workers!!) ................
*And if asked in advance false modesty would cause many to decline or give us a prepared answer!
Have you asked yourself, while traveling to work……..or more likely as you return, all too slowly, at the end of a seemingly endless day, does what I do really count? Remember God says YES absolutely!
P.S. You could be next!!

Amen Pastor! Our Jobs, our Marriages, our Web sites, our automobiles, the meals we prepare, the comments we leave, the vacations we may be enabled to take, even the pain we suffer. God bless you and the body of Christ family I miss so dearly in Pacifica.

58

No its not an attack of wishful thinking or a correction of my recent birthday; I am getting used to writing “60” when asked for my age. The number is a reference to Isaiah 58. Some time ago I ...

Choosing ... not to choose!

No Dieting!

Some times it feels like a "Christian diet,” or maybe a way of getting God’s attention so He will pay more attention to our prayers. Yes its that time again, time for what has become part of our ...

Choosing

To begin our new year and as we prepare for our fast on January 16th (more about that later) here are a few thoughts from the message last Sunday. The importance of “choosing” came home to me ...
