While I was born in Kansas, most of my life was spent in Oklahoma where I was raised in Edmond a suburb of Oklahoma City. For six years, throughout High school and College, I was fortunate enough to lead worship at Henderson Hills Baptist Church. I received my B.A. in Biblical Languages from Oklahoma Baptist University where Shannon, my wonderful wife and I met and fell in love.

After graduation, I packed up all of my belongings and headed to California to attend GoldenGate Baptist Theological Seminary where I received my M.Div. in May of 2009. In October of 2008 Shannon and I welcomed a new member into the family, Carsyn Rae Cunningham, our beautiful, rambunctious and curious daughter. She has been a joy and a blessing to both of us over the last year.

I am currently working on my Th.M at GGBTS with a concentration in Historical Theological studies while Shannon is starting her own photography company. We are both excited to be serving as a part of the New Life family.

Pleasures:

When I’m not doing school, working or spending time with family, I can often be found paddling into the line-ups at local surf breaks including Linda-Mar, Ocean Beach and Bolinas to name a few. While I was born in Oklahoma, I grew up spending a lot of time at my grandparents who live near the beach in Texas. I quickly developed a love for the ocean and everything surrounding it. That love has never left me. I feel at home in the water and never want to leave the coast again. I also enjoy recording music in my makeshift home studio. Finally, I can’t get enough of watching Carsyn develop, grow and learn new things. There’s just nothing better than that! These are just a few of the things I enjoy doing on a regular basis.
